Hospice of the Chesapeake ― Pasadena, MD

Hospice of the Chesapeake’s mission is to care for life throughout the journey with illness and loss. Hospice of the Chesapeake provides physical, psycho-social and spiritual support services to individuals living with and affected by advanced illness.

Purple Cherry Architects provided full architectural services for design through construction administration for a new 14-bed, 14,000 sf Inpatient Care Center on their new campus site. Our team conducted programming meetings and interviews with staff to determine the needs of the building prior to starting the design. Guided by the needs and requests of the Hospice staff, our team designed a building that will support patients in their last days, and their families, in a home-like environment. The inpatient center also includes a clinical station, conference rooms, reflection/sanctuary room, offices, a small commercial kitchen, laundry, staff lounge, and a great room and kitchen for patients’ families. The exterior of the building is landscaped with gardens and large water vessels.

Project cost: $4.3 million
